The Ad'rath Meteor

The Ad’rath Meteor was first recorded over 300 years ago by sky watcher Kae Ad’rath and became a symbol of wonder for centuries. When its trajectory shifted toward Aetherion a hundred years ago, scholars predicted a catastrophic impact close to the Dragonkin city of Avlon. But in the final hours, Ava, Goddess of Wind and Compassion, intervened. Through immense magic, Avlon was lifted into the skies, becoming a floating city in the Avalonian Mountains. The meteor struck the earth below, leaving the Ad’rath Scar—a colossal crater radiating etheric energy and shards of unknown origin.

The scar becomes a forbidden zone, radiating unstable ether and gravitational anomalies. Dominion and Covenant factions race to claim shards for their magical properties. Scholars debate whether the meteor was a natural phenomenon or a harbinger of the Void’s corruption.

DISCOVERY (300+ YEARS AGO)

Kae Ad’rath, a renowned sky watcher, first observes a brilliant celestial body moving across the heavens. The meteor is cataloged and named Ad’rath Meteor in honor of its discoverer. Scholars and stargazers across Aetherion begin tracking its path, believing it to be a harmless cosmic wanderer.

CENTURIES OF OBSERVATION (300–100 YEARS AGO)

For over 200 years, the meteor becomes a subject of fascination and prophecy. Festivals and rituals emerge around its periodic visibility, calling it the “Messenger of the Gods.” Scholars from the Arcanum maintain detailed records of its trajectory, noting its predictable orbit.

THE TURNING POINT (100 YEARS AGO)

During a routine observation, astronomers detect a subtle deviation in its path. Calculations reveal a terrifying truth: the meteor is on a collision course with Aetherion. The Conclave confirms the impact point near Avlon, the neutral Dragonkin city on Illdoridri’s eastern coast. Panic spreads among scholars and leaders, but Avlon remains diplomatically neutral.

Diplomatic Mission

A Covenant delegation is dispatched to warn Avlon. As they arrive, they find a massive crater where the city once stood, carved deep into the earth by the meteor’s shockwave. Only a few outer structures remain—those built outside Avlon’s main walls—standing like broken sentinels around the crater. The delegation assumes Avlon was destroyed… until they learn the truth.

DIVINE INTERVENTION

In the final moments before impact, Ava, Goddess of Wind and Compassion, intervenes. Using immense divine power and Dragonkin magic, Avlon is lifted into the skies, becoming a floating city in the Avalonian Mountains near the Scarab Desert. The city survives, but the land below faces devastation.

The Impact

The meteor strikes Alaroh Island, east of Illdoridri’s coast. The Cathedral of Alaroh, a sacred site, is obliterated in the initial blast. A colossal scar forms, stretching from Alaroh Island across the ocean floor and inland toward Avlon’s former location. Etheric storms erupt, and fragments of the meteor—Ad’rath Shards—scatter across the scar.
