Gold drives everything in Aetherion, from upgrades at the Great Forge to the rarest finds on the Auction House. This page explains the coins you carry, the Etheric Vault that keeps your savings safe, where to buy and sell, and the tokens you earn for PvP, Trials and seasonal events.
Money comes in three coins. They are real items that sit in your bags, stack up to 999, and can be dropped, traded or stored like anything else.
Most humanoid enemies drop coins when you defeat them, straight into your bags. Animals don't carry purses, so hunting rabbits won't make you rich. Quests, achievements and the Hall of Trials pay rewards too.
The Etheric Vault in the Central Nexus is the realm's bank. Speak to a banker and press F to open it. There are no bank commands: deposits and withdrawals are always made in person.

Turn the coins in your bags into vault gold, a few at a time or all at once.
Take gold back out as coins when you need to pay a merchant.

Some things take the coins in your bags, others take gold or tokens straight from the vault. If a purchase fails, check you're paying from the right place.
Merchants across the realm sell gear, materials, food and more. Talk to one to open their shop: browse their wares, set an amount and press Buy, or Max to buy as many as you can afford.
Merchants want coins from your bags, not vault gold. Visit the Vault before you go shopping.
Some items are limited to a few per player each day. The stock refreshes at the daily reset.
Some merchants ask for tokens or items instead of gold, such as the traders who sell PvP and Trials rewards.
Want to run your own shop? Place a Merchant Stand, stock it with items and set your prices. Other players buy from it with the same shop window as an NPC merchant.
Your stand keeps trading when you're offline. Every sale is paid straight into your vault.
Busy roads and markets bring more buyers. Follow the local rules of the town or region you set up in.
The Auction House is where players trade with the whole server. Speak to an Auctioneer, or type /auction (/ac). Everything on it is paid for with vault gold.
Search or pick a category, then click an auction. Buyout pays at once and the item waits for you under Collect.
Beat the current bid by at least 1 gold. Your gold is held while you're the top bidder and freed if someone outbids you. Bids can't be taken back.
Pick an item from your bags, set a buyout (and a starting bid if you want bids) and choose 12, 24 or 48 hours. You can have up to 10 auctions up at once.
Items you buy or win, and auctions that end unsold or that you cancel, wait under Collect. Make room in your bags first.
Tokens are earned, never bought. They live only in the Etheric Vault, can't be withdrawn or traded, and are spent at special merchants.
There is no pay command. To send gold to another player, write a letter at any Pigeon Post mailbox and attach gold. It goes from your vault to theirs. Postage costs 2 gold, plus 1 gold for each item you attach.
