Emerald Scar is an enigmatic and visually striking region: a vast, frozen expanse of windswept ice plains carved by millennia of blizzards — broken only by a colossal circular crater in the exact center.
Inside this crater, completely at odds with the world around it, lies a lush emerald-green forest, overflowing with life, warmth, and magic. Trees tower as if in perpetual spring, glowing with faint ethereal light during northern nights.
No known climate, elemental source, or spellcasting force can explain how such an ecosystem thrives in the middle of a frozen wasteland.
The Evermoor Mountains form a jagged crescent around the northern edge of Emerald Scar, their peaks rising like icy teeth toward the sky. Unlike the smooth ice plains to the south and west, Evermoor is wild, fractured, and constantly reshaped by brutal winds and heavy snowfall. The mountains hum faintly with etheric currents that locals insist are not natural. Some believe these currents are connected to the strange barrier surrounding the Emerald Scar.
All attempts to enter the emerald heart are met with an invisible barrier. It simply… denies passage. Animals, people, spells, etheric surges — all are turned aside with a gentle but irresistible force.
Even the Dominion’s most powerful dragonforged mages failed to breach it. Even the Covenant’s high scholars declared it "Not of our world."
The barrier’s shimmering surface is only visible when touched, like ripples on a pond.
Those who have climbed the outer walls and peered inward describe:
The forest appears to be alive, aware, and watching. Some say the trees shift when unobserved. Others claim to have seen figures dancing in the moonlight. If these rumors are true, Emerald Scar may hold the last untouched remnant of ancient Nature magic in Illdoridri.
Local myths insist that dryads — ancient forest spirits predating the elves — make their home within the Emerald Scar.
At the base of the Evermoor Mountains lies a small but highly organized Elven research camp, established generations ago when the Emerald Scar’s anomaly first drew the attention of Eryndor’s scholars.
Despite their efforts, the elves have never breached the barrier - not even for a moment.
To the Elves, the Emerald Scar represents:
Privately, some scholars fear the barrier is not protecting the forest — but preventing something inside from escaping. They have not voiced this theory publicly.
