Zan'Thar Basin

The Zan’Thar Basin is a sprawling expanse of dense jungle forests, shrouded in mist and alive with the hum of unseen creatures. Vines coil around towering trees, and the air is thick with the scent of moss and decay. Unlike the gentle hills of Briarcrest, Zan’Thar is wild and untamed—a place where nature reclaims all.

Amid this verdant chaos lie extensive ruins, far more prominent than those in Briarcrest. Crumbling ziggurats, vine-choked plazas, and shattered causeways hint at a once-great civilization lost to time. The architecture bears a tribal aesthetic, with stepped pyramids, sun motifs, and glyphs etched into weathered stone. Scholars speculate these ruins belonged to an ancient empire that revered the sun and blood rites, possibly tied to early elemental worship.

Points of Interest

The Grand Arena: A massive ceremonial battleground, centerpiece of the ruins.

Sunken Causeways: Overgrown stone roads leading deeper into the jungle, lined with toppled statues.

Temple of the Broken Sun: A shattered ziggurat believed to have been the empire’s spiritual heart.

Cultural & Historical Notes

  • Folklore speaks of blood rituals and sun worship, suggesting ties to Taar (War and Fire) or even Talasas (Trade and Water) through sacrificial rites.
  • Some glyphs reference “The First Dawn”, possibly an early myth connected to Arael’s light.
  • Treasure hunters and Dominion scouts have begun probing the ruins, seeking artifacts of power.
