Southern Desert

The Southern Desert stretches across the southern peninsula of Illdoridri like a golden sea, its endless dunes shimmering beneath a merciless sun. Winds howl across the barren expanse, sculpting towering sand ridges and treacherous valleys where mirages dance on the horizon. Scorching heat dominates the day, while nights plunge into icy silence beneath a canopy of stars.

Hidden among the dunes lie oases, rare sanctuaries of life where hardy palms and crystalline pools offer respite to weary travelers. Ancient ruins, half-buried in sand, whisper of forgotten civilizations that once thrived before the desert claimed their glory. These ruins, carved with runes of Talasas—the God of Trade and Water—hint at a time when this land was a thriving maritime hub.

The desert serves as a major crossroads, linking the Avalonian Mountains to the west with Sandorei to the east. Caravans laden with spices, minerals, and etheric crystals brave its perilous routes, guarded by mercenaries and mystics alike. Yet, the southern reaches have become a land of dread: the Scaraks, a hive-minded insectoid race, have emerged from the depths of the dunes, erecting resin-coated spires and burrows that scar the landscape. Their sudden appearance has turned the southern frontier into a war zone, where survival depends on steel, magic, and cunning.

The air hums with tension—between trade and war, between ancient secrets and new horrors. The Southern Desert is not merely a wasteland; it is a crucible where the fate of Aetherion may be decided.

Da'Kon

Da’Kon is a rugged outpost carved from sandstone and reinforced with etheric crystal pylons to withstand the desert’s fury. It serves as a neutral ground, where both Dragonkin and Kalen’Tir maintain a fragile truce for the sake of commerce and survival. Its towering watchtowers overlook the endless dunes, while its central bazaar bustles with merchants trading rare minerals, spices, and enchanted relics.

The settlement thrives on mutual necessity:

  • Dragonkin use Da’Kon as a staging point for aerial patrols and resource gathering.
  • Kalen’tir rely on its markets and water reserves for their desert expeditions.

Despite its neutrality, Da’Kon is a powder keg of tension. Dominion agents lurk in the shadows, seeking alliances or sabotage, while whispers of Scarak incursions grow louder each day. The outpost’s survival depends on its adaptability—and the strength of its mercenary guilds.
