Sandstone Spires

Sandstone Spires is a breathtaking region where towering sandstone plateaus rise like colossal needles from shimmering waters. Once a rocky barrier between the desert and the ocean, parts of this land collapsed centuries ago, allowing seawater to flood the lowlands. Now, the spires stand isolated, their bases surrounded by turquoise lagoons and tidal channels, creating a surreal blend of desert and oceanic beauty.

The region is enclosed by mountains to the north and south, forming a natural amphitheater of stone, while the eastern gap opens toward the Scarab Desert. This unique geography makes Sandstone Spires both a hidden refuge and a strategic crossroads.

There are small, isolated Kalen’Tir communities perched atop the spires, accessible only by rope lifts or wind magic. These settlements are known for their sky gardens, growing herbs and flowers in suspended terraces.

Points of Interest

  • The Plateaus: Towering sandstone formations rising hundreds of feet, their sheer sides carved by wind and water.
  • Lagoon Network: A maze of tidal pools and channels created after the land collapse, rich in aquatic life and rare minerals.
  • Sunfire Bridges: Rope and plank bridges strung between spires, glowing with enchanted lanterns at night.

Cultural Notes

Folklore speaks of “The Singing Stones”, spires that hum when struck by desert storms, believed to channel Ava’s breath.

Lir’Vaelis

Lir’Vaelis is a breathtaking settlement suspended between sky and water, where sandstone towers rise like spears from shimmering lagoons. Homes and sanctums cling to the spires, their walls etched with runes that glow faintly under moonlight. Rope bridges sway in the desert winds, linking platforms adorned with crystal lanterns and wind chimes that sing with the storms.

The settlement is a haven for Kalen’Tir mystics and scholars, who study the resonance of the Singing Stones and the secrets of etheric currents. Its isolation makes it a sanctuary of wisdom, but also a fortress—defended by warriors who know every spire and every gust of wind.
