The Dragonkin are a proud and ancient race, born from the union of elemental wind and flame during the First Age of Aetherion. Their bodies bear the marks of their draconic heritage—scaled skin, ember-lit eyes, and horns that curve like storm-forged blades. While most Dragonkin pledge allegiance to The Dominion, their devotion to Ava, Goddess of Wind and Compassion, ensures that freedom and honor remain at the heart of their culture. This duality makes them one of the most complex and fascinating races in the Last Sanctum.
The Dragonkin trace their lineage to the Skybirth, a cataclysmic storm where Ava’s breath mingled with Taar’s flames, forging the first of their kind. These beings were tasked with safeguarding the skies and maintaining elemental balance. Their earliest settlements rose on eastern Illdoridri, where the city of Avlon became the heart of their civilization.
When the Ad’rath Meteor struck Alaroh Island, its shockwaves scarred Illdoridri and threatened Avlon’s existence. In an act of divine intervention, Ava lifted Avlon into the skies, transforming it into a floating bastion tethered to the Avalonian Mountains. This miracle preserved the Dragonkin but forever changed their destiny.
Avlon is a marvel of elemental engineering—a city of floating platforms anchored by etheric conduits, with one colossal spire, the Skyroot Spire, embedded into the Avalonian peak. Deep within this spire lies the Sanctum of Air, the spiritual heart of Ava’s worship and the stabilizing force that keeps Avlon aloft.
Dragonkin society is fractured:
This ideological divide fuels political intrigue and conflict within Avlon.
