Crystal Fjord

Crystal Fjord is a dramatic landscape of sheer cliffs, towering mountains, frozen inlets, and deep ravines filled with shimmering ice. The region gets its name from the crystal-like formations embedded within the cliffs and shoreline — natural mineral deposits that refract moonlight and aurora into pulses of shifting color.

The fjord is one of the most isolated but resource-rich regions in all of northern Aetherion.

Its depths resound with the activity of Dark Dwarven mining, forging, and subterranean settlement. Much of the region is covered by a single massive forest called the Rosemarsh Forest. Despite its name, Rosemarsh Forest is not a warm or vibrant place — but it is hauntingly beautiful.

Winterbane

Winterbane is a cold, iron‑walled Dominion port built atop the ruins of an old human fishing settlement. Its natural harbor is carved between steep crystalline cliffs, allowing Dominion warships and Dragonkin assault skiffs to shelter safely even in violent fjord storms.

Winterbane is feared for its brutal efficiency. Locals claim even the sea freezes harder near its walls. It is known for its heavy ice‑reinforced docks lined with black metal plating. The purpose of this town is as a:

  • Launch point for Dominion naval patrols across the Bright Coast and the northern sea
  • Acts as an intelligence hub monitoring Covenant movements in Fisherman’s Cove

Dul'varr

Dul’Varr is one of the Terra’Gar’s most important surface bastions — not just a defensive structure, but a full military training installation where Dark Dwarven warriors, rune‑smiths, and hammer‑guards undergo harsh and unforgiving combat instruction.

Hidden deep inside the Rosemarsh Forest, surrounded by crystal-lit marshes and frostwood trees, the fortress serves as both a surface battlement and a gateway into the underways that eventually connect to Terralode. The role of this bastion is to:

  • Train Terra’Gar hammer‑guards, the elite infantry of the Dominion
  • Field-test frost‑iron weaponry forged in the nearby mines and workshops
  • Runic combat instruction for young Dark Dwarven rune‑smith apprentices
  • Harsh conditioning drills in ice, froststorms, and low‑visibility environments
  • Serve as a surface guard post monitoring Crystal Fjord’s central region
  • Protect the secret tunnel network leading south to Terralode
Graduates of Dul’Varr are known throughout the Dominion as unmatched shock troops — hardened by cold, carved by discipline, and utterly fearless.
